The developing country🇮🇳
Moonlit was their house.Incandescently it radiated ,to their astonishment in the night. Well! it was not the moon nor the sun. The light has set foot in their lives. These are the three backward Himalayan villages of Shakati, Maurad and Shugad in district Kullu of Himachal Pradesh in India. It takes seven to eight hours to reach there. Post 71 years of freedom, they felt the hunch of equality. The fantastic five has ended the era of twilight for them. District Kullu in Himachal Pradesh has an international bearing for having Kasol. It is known for hash and good food. It’s position on the way to Manali keeps the name a float on the international radar.
Type ’The National Himalayan Park Kullu’ and google tells you all about it.It is surprising that in the amid of this popular National Park are three peopled villages. These have the total of 54 houses which got the frill of electricity after 70 years of Indian independence. For them the convenience has entered their lives after an magnanimous group of youngsters identified these villages.”These villages did not have electricity. It came as a shock to us”, said Praveen Sharma. He is one of the fantastic five friends who got together to take the bull by it’s horns.Three are Indian citizens(Praveen Sharma, Jitendar Verma, and Prem Singh Thakur) and two are American citizens(Bhaskar DK and Ravi) who have migrated from India.
The task was a can of worms .The connectivity was a point at issue. This place is located in the center of the national park. The trees could not be cut to place the electric poles. The people were simple but flinty and adamant. They did not want to shift to a better connected place. Therefore, these five boys understood that to provide, they will have to stay resolute and dig deep in the mud. They studied and understood the place, people , their strengths and their difficulties. They knew were not their to change them but to add value to their lives. Therefore , they went through the sheltered local deity and made sure that the heat and brightness of the light does not blur their vision but make their part of the world bright.
A way was found and it was decided to take the solar panels there. This got them going. The solar lights and solar generators were procured and managed by the group of fantastic five themselves. They made projects , wrote trail of mails and contacted many companies to spread the light.
The first quarter of June 2018 made possible the uneffable for them. They can watch TV now.Five lights of five watts can glow in each house. The school is provided with a solar generator.
The irony is that these houses could not gain the attention of the state government even for their basic amenities. A low voter density is no eye candy for the politicians. The state government has put these villages under the cover of’ Sanj Wild Life Century ’.This allows people to live in these villages but for the basics, they fall light on the voter’s density population scale.
I will share the photo feature in this article which will take you along their journey
