Few months back we were planning for excursion in summer vacation. Many were preparing for board and Competitive examination. But this pandemic has put everything in the standstill. Various progress have taken place during the pandemic. We can see the changes in the human behaviour,environment,etc. This pandemic also brought changes in world order too.
This pandemic might be the reason for shift in hegemony.
What does Hegemony Mean? And what histroy tell us about hegemony??
Politics is about power. Just as individuals want to gain and retain power, groups too want to gain and retain power. We routinely talk of someone becoming powerful or someone doing something for power.
In the case of world politics too, countries are engaged in constantly trying to gain and retain power. This power is in the form of political, military and economic power. If we want to understand the world politics,it is necessary to understand the distribution of power among the countries of the world. If you go back to history we can see during the cold war, the power was divided between two groups USSR And USA.
After the disintegration of USSR we can see the bipolar world that is dominated by USA. After few years we can see the multipolar world. The world is dominated by few countries. By this we get to know that power will not last forever. Few years back we can see how USA was trying to dominate the world. By promoting the Idea of ‘America first’ and threatening other countries with sanctions if they won’t abide by the Americans national Interest.
During this pandemic whole world is fighting against this deadly virus. But china which have overcome from this pandemic. Took this as an opportunity to extend their base in south china sea. Popularly known as “nine dash line”. All the south east Asian countries are in crossroads whether to fight this pandemic or aggressive policy of china of extending their base in south china sea.
Will this pandemic will be a reason for shift in hegemony. Or will this be a reason for another world war?? We have left with this questions only time will let us know.
This is the time where all the countries have to come together leaving their national interest apart. To overcome this pandemic and the conflict which is arising out in different parts of the world.
And it is the duty of global institutions To save humanity from facing another disaster. And making this world peaceful coexistence. May Almighty save mankind from sudden disaster, crisis, or chaos. Let us hope for the best.
