In Latin it’s called Annus Mirabillis—- A wonderful year. Conversely, the year 2020 started on a subdued note and by February, the deadly virus had led to a conflagatory spread, transcending boundaries, engulfing an odd 188 countries. The spectre of the virus has become so pronounced that countries across the globe have imposed lockdowns to contain the virus and slow down its footprints lest it overwhelms the healthcare systems. India too has imposed one of the harshest lockdowns as compared to other countries, with a view to slowing the acceleration of COV-2, and also because of the demographics, pluralism and available healthcare infrastructures of the country.
Apart from the restrictions which probably no citizen is accustomed to and which has led many into the vortex of fear and psychological disorders, the people of the country have been shell- shocked on account of the sudden, back to back demise of two legends of Bollywood.
Both Irfan and Rishi were superb actors in their own right with contrasting styles but a commonality of versatlity in their persona. Two tremendously gifted proponents who won the hearts of the masses with their electrifying performances. The film world has been devasted by their losses and it would ever be difficult to fill the void left them .
RIP
