Northern cafe[/caption] When I landed in Bir(A small village whose main occupation is paragliding )after completing my first paragliding flight. It was time for a treat. We had heard about Northern cafe and were fascinated by its pictures. Shamsher bhaiya pointed towards a house.I t was far but was bang opposite to the landing ground. ”That is your next destination”, he said . ”The way to the cafe goes through the market”, he guided us. It took us 10-15 minutes to reach it. I should share with you our interesting walk towards it. We started on a metaled road. From the market, it took us into the green fields. The narrow road strip moved along the water stream known as ’Kool’ in the local language. We walked along the cow shed through the fields to reach the Northern Cafe. I loved the walk.It was a better version of the nature walk we do in the cities. [caption id="attachment_968" align="alignright" width="300"] The wooden gate of Northern Cafe[/caption] We saw an interesting gate with a wooden plank which read ’welcome to the Northern Cafe’.It had four raw wood pillars. A small roof that covered the wooden plank. It was made with black stone tiles. These tiles are called ’slate’ here. They are found commonly and were the only material to cover the rooftops until the cement replaced them. They are still seen covering the houses in the villages here. Entering the gate we reached the cafe. It looked simple but extremely interesting. A two-story mud house( the mud houses are warm in the winter and are cold in the summers). The ground floor had a few sets of bamboo chairs and tables, a reception area and the kitchen. [caption id="attachment_959" align="alignright" width="225"] The mud house, the bell and me at the cafe[/caption] The owner greeted us in English and asked us to take the seats on the top floor. As we went towards the tiny staircase which connected both the floors, we saw a board which read ’kindly remove your shoes’.We removed the shoes and climbed up. This was the kind of place I wanted to visit after my maiden flight. The first thing I noticed was the silence. It was the most peaceful place after the high skies that I had just felt. [caption id="attachment_965" align="alignright" width="225"] Simplicity at its best in the hills[/caption] Tables were made out of simple wooden planks. Its floor was carpeted with the rough blankets. We were supposed to sit on bright red and black cushions well kept on the ground, cross-legged. The top floor did have a room with a long wooden table but we chose to sit outside. The outer part had a small wooden railing. From there I cloud see till my eyes could hold. It was like nature treating me for the bravery which I had just shown. The mountains behind the cafe were patting my back and the open green fields in front and on the sides were pampering me with the wind. Front view of the cafe is of the landing ground where the pilots keep landing every other second. The sky was full of colourful paragliders. The northern cafe has started to treat me even before I had placed an order for food. [caption id="attachment_960" align="alignright" width="300"] Sky was the limit but we had a dream catcher[/caption] This place is a must for dreamers. It has a dream catchers to keep our good dreams and thoughts with us. They look beautiful. Every table has a lamp and a small traditional bell with a box of chess. The sound of this small bell is enough to call for help from the ground floor. We ordered food. It took a little long but this it was worth as they make fresh food with fresh ingredients. Anyways the more time you spend sitting there is less. After we filled our stomach and our heart we came to the reception counter to clear the bill. The counter had a display of local herbs and products with other beautiful decor. They have four tents to stay over for a night. Next time I plan to stay there and experience a day full of peace and beauty close to nature. ]]>
