A term in local language for the shops without owners.Imagine a lane of stalls full of fresh vegetables laid beside the national highway. They have everything but a visible shopkeeper. These shops have existed since ever. The farmers from the vicinity bring their produce for sale in the morning.As the earnings are humble,they do not miss a day in the fields, therefore, they trust to earn.
They spread the vegetables and leave them with a money box with a rate card. Passer buy who needs anything from their stalls can walk in and pick the required thing after putting the calculated money in the box. If they are short of change, they can even open the money box to take the change.
”How would I put in words the emotional attachment with these shops?They boost our moral. Someone we don’t know has put all his trust in us. Those sentiments get attached to us. That character still exists in our heart. No one ever cheats., ”told C.Lalremsiama.
“In the olden days, it was a tradition to cook with a wooden spoon. That spoon became the protecting
stick to hold the wooden doors together in the night. That was our security system.” said Lalremsiama.
The election process in Aizawl is another model to be studied.It should be replicated in the country. As 2019 Lok Sabha elections are approaching, the country needs to follow a more grounded and a more sober process to contest the elections. The candidates and their Supports in Aizawl are not allowed to walk alone for Campaigning. A person from the church accompanies them to keep the process clean.This keeps the expenditure limited ,paving way for a corruption less future.
