Kumbh 2019 saw a significant number of foreigners adopting Hinduism. If the figures are to be believed then about 10,000  management and engineering students from India have renounced the world in this Kumbh. When asked about why does it happen to the well-educated youngsters? Swami said, ”living a life of saint has nothing to do with the education level. Anybody who acknowledges an urge to go closer to God may walk into the ascetic life.”He further said, ”I believe that 80% of the sadhus these days are highly qualified. All the existing akhara have highly qualified saints.” Explaining about the akharas ,he told that there are two types of sadhus in every akhara. A segment takes to the learning of weapons and the other to the study of religion. The ones who take to the study of religion are given positions like Mahamandleshwar and the Mahants. These choices are made totally on the basis of knowledge acquired by them. Today was the last shaahi sanaan in  Kumbh. Total of three Shahi sanaans are presided over by seven sanyaasi akharas. The first Shahi sanaan is taken care of by the Juna, Aavahan and the Agni akharas. With the acceptance of kinnar akhara, the total number of akharas is fourteen now. Kinners had submitted an application seeking permission to be allowed as saints in the Kumbh at Madhya Pradesh in the year 2016. In 2019 they are allowed to form an akhara and participate in the Kumbh. Seven akharas are of sanyaasi, four are of Vaishnav, two are of udaseen and one is of  kinners. He left the things to guess, ”Rama is the hero of the world. He is Maryada Purushottam.”he said. According to mythology, Kumbh has derived its name from the immortal pot of nectar which was fought over by the Gods and the demons. The story of Lord Shiva drinking the poison and handing over the nectar to God’s is known to all. The name Kumbh has been taken from the specific Kumbh in the mythological story. While the four places which host Kumbh( Nasik, Allahabad, Ujjain and Haridwar)  are supposedly the places on which the droplets of Amrit from the nectar pot fell. Any person who takes to the ascetic life has to perform 17 pind daan.It is the ritual followed in Hindu dharma after a family members dies. Out of  17 pind daans ,eight are for mother’s side, another set of eight are for father’s side. One is done for the self. This is to assure no attachment to the relations after the world is renounced. Mahamandleshwar Swami Kalyananand loves Himachal. His mother was from Himachal and father was from Uttrakhand. therefore, he says, ”I am at my nanihal.” Pic credit Mahamandleshwar Swami Kalyananad Giri]]>
